Prof. Dr. Çiler Hatipoğlu

Çiler HATİPOĞLU is a Professor at the Department of Foreign Language Education, Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey where she teaches various Linguistics and Foreign Language Education (FLE) courses at undergraduate and graduate levels. Her main research areas are pragmatics, politeness, corpus linguistics, foreign language teaching and assessment, metadiscourse, and crowdsourcing. Dr. Hatipoglu has led national and international projects and published more than 100 articles and book chapters on these topics in various national and international journals and books. She is the creator of the METU Turkish English Exam Corpus (METU TEEC) and a member of the team that developed the first Spoken Turkish Corpus (METU STC).

 

Prof. Dr. Hossain Farhady

Hossein Farhady is an Iranian applied linguist with more than forty years of studying, teaching and researching in and out of Iran. He has worked at universities including University of Teachers Education, Iran University of Science and Technology, Tehran in Iran, UCLA, Texas A &M, USC, and University of Shenandoah in the United States, American University of Armenia in Yerevan, Armenia, and Yeditepe University in Istanbul, Turkey. During his professional career, he has trained many applied linguists and university lecturers.

 

Assist. Prof. Dr. Merve Savaşçı

Merve Savasci took her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English Language Teaching from Yeditepe University in 2011. She had a double major in college and graduated in 2012 with a double major in Translation and Interpreting Studies. She also holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in English Language Education from Yeditepe University (Istanbul, Turkey). She currently works as an assistant professor in the Department of Foreign Language Education at Sakarya University (Sakarya, Turkey), where she offers both graduate and undergraduate courses (both theoretical and practical). Her research interests center around teaching L2 skills (i.e., EFL reading, writing, listening, and speaking) and language teacher education (pre- and in-service). She has published in national and international peer-reviewed journals as well as presented at and participated in a number of international conferences. She has also worked as a reviewer for many international scientific journals.
